The City of Dana Point encourages all qualified individuals to apply for a position on the Dana Point Planning Commission. There are three vacancies, and the application period begins on Thursday, January 20, 2011 and continues through Friday, February 18, 2011 at 4:30 P.M. All applicants must be residents of Dana Point and registered voters in Dana Point. All applications must be received by February 18, 2011 at 4:30 P.M. Background:
The Dana Point Planning Commission is a decision-making body tasked with reviewing matters related to planning and development in the city. The Commission consists of five members, and all are appointed by the City Council.
Typical projects reviewed by the Commission include applications for new development, proposed changes in zoning or Municipal Code text, as well as reviewing proposed subdivisions of land. The Commission is also responsible for making recommendations to the City Council, such as whether to enter into a Mills Act Contract with a property owner, or whether a project or action would be consistent with the City's General Plan.
