Since the founding of Dana Point Yacht Club in 1952, its members have proven themselves leaders in the community. Much of the Yacht Club’s history and growth has been centered on its active participation in the development of what is today the Dana Point Harbor. The common bond for the members of DPYC is created by their love of the ocean, a deep sense of pride, tradition, fairness & competition in boating and their genuine love for the community, both the beautiful Dana Point Harbor and Southern Orange County.

The Dana Point Yacht Club has had a long history of sponsoring charitable events. Our Ensenada charities, the Spark of Love Christmas Toy Drive and Olympic Sailing are but a few of the organizations the Club helps. In 1999, DPYC embarked on a major fundraising journey to benefit those charities in Southern California in need of funds. The High Hopes Head Injury Association, Pancreatic Cancer Association and Cystic Fibrosis Foundation have been previous recipients of the Regatta’s fundraising efforts. This year's beneficiary will be The Ocean Institute.

As an annual event in the harbor, the Charity Regatta’s mission is to bring together the business, civic and social leaders of our community with its boating members in order to raise money to benefit our community in South Orange County. This prestigious event promises once again, to be the sailing, powerboat and social event of the year. Since its inception, the Richard Henry Dana Charity Regatta® has raised over $600,000 dollars for local charities through corporate donations, sponsorships and individual contributions.

The mission of the Ocean Institute is to inspire all generations, through education, to become responsible stewards of our oceans. Their vision is to be the world's best experiential ocean educational organization.
