Our local health care workers are enduring yet another major surge in hospital and ICU COVID cases, but this time, they’re also dealing with staff shortages due to the surging omicron variant. Hugs for Heroes has been asked to once more urge the public to provide meals, snacks, and notes of encouragement to our local health care workers at the two Mission Hospital locations, Mission Viejo and Laguna Beach.
In 2021, Dana Point Woman's Club members generously supported this effort and we were able to provide a carload of snacks, many beautiful notes, and over $1,000 in contributions – enough to provide a meal to every covid care worker in both shifts for both locations. The meals, notes and snacks not only provide sustenance, but most importantly, they allow the community to send a well-deserved “hug” to our health care heroes. Last year, Hugs for Heroes sent car loads of snacks and love notes, and purchased close to 650 meals from participating Dana Point restaurants, (106 sponsored by DPWC).
