Saturday DPHCA Walks; Whale Talk & Walk (Every 2nd Saturday)

Join us for a Naturalist presentation on whales, other cetaceans, and marine mammals that can frequently be seen from the Dana Point Headlands. Designed to introduce participants to the natural history of marine mammals, whale characterization, and interesting tidbits about these large and fascinating creatures of the sea. A walk along the Dana Point Preserve will focus on what types of marine mammals we see, how to identify them, where and when to look for them, and how to responsible view marine wildlife. Stops along the overlooks on the trail may even lead to a whale sighting!

The Whale Talk & Walk occurs on the second Saturday of each month and begins at the Nature Interpretive Center (34558 Scenic Drive, Dana Point, CA 92629) at 9 AM. The walk is flexible, approximately 1.5-2 hours long, covering 0.5-1 mile.

Binoculars are available to be borrowed from the Nature Interpretive Center prior to the walk.

Please RSVP to DPNaturalResources@danapoint.org or (949) 248-3527. Walks are subject to cancellation due to inclement weather.

Dana Point Headland Conservation Area trails are open 7AM to Sunset daily.

Nature Interpretive Center hours: Tuesday-Sunday 10AM to 4PM.
