This month's Science Night is titled, "Climate Change Invaders", presented by Piper Wallingford of University of California, Irvine.
As the temperature of our ocean rises, marine intertidal organisms will be affected not only by the stress of higher temperatures, but also indirectly through changes in predation rates. Piper will talk about how these direct and indirect effects will alter predator and prey distributions along the entire west coast.
Piper is a doctoral student in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at UCI. She studies global change ecology in rocky intertidal systems and frequently participates in community outreach education and events.
