This walk focuses on the Dana Point Headlands, its trails, habitat and history.  It is designed to be a “Headlands 101” adventure.  It will introduce participants to the plants and animals located in this Coastal Sage Scrub habitat.  Participants will learn about the rare and endangered animals and plants that live here as well as those typically found in this type of habitat.  This walk also explores the adaptations that help the animals and plants survive and thrive here.  Included in this walk is an overview of the history of the Headlands from the 19^th century to the events in the 20^th and 21^st century that shaped the Headlands as we know it today. 

The Headlands Nature Walk occurs on the first Saturday of each month and begins at the Nature Interpretive Center (34558 Scenic Drive, Dana Point, CA 92629) at 9 AM. The walk is flexible, approximately 1.5 hours long, covering 1-2 miles.
