Did you know that thefts from unlocked cars are by far the most common crime in Dana Point? Maybe you have personally been a victim of theft, or know someone that has. These crimes are perhaps among the easiest to prevent and we want to teach you how to do just that!
With that in mind, Dana Point Police Services has launched a public-awareness campaign called “
Hide It, Lock It, Or Lose It” to help remind residents to secure their belongings and help reduce property crime. This has become the familiar slogan for the campaign, which has established a website under that name to share statistics, and get the word out about involvement opportunities to help reduce crime. Our goal is to use this campaign to educate our potential victims, who leave their vehicles, garages, and even their homes unlocked and unattended, to simply lock their doors.
We would love the opportunity to visit your communities and share this important information with as many residents as we can. If you would be willing to get just 8-10 people together, then we could come out and present this exciting new campaign. Talk to your neighbors, help us get the word out!
