“City of Dana Point to Offer SHARPS Disposal by Mail
Program to Residents”
The City of Dana Point and SHARPS Compliance, Inc. are teaming up to provide a SHARPS Disposal by Mail program for City residents who self-inject legal prescription medications through needles, lancets, and other “sharps.” Experts estimate nearly ten million Americans self-inject legal medications, which is over three percent of the population. This causes an estimated three billion syringes to enter the public solid waste system each year according to SHARPS Compliance, Inc. Needles, lancets, and other “sharps” pose a serious health threat when they enter the solid waste system. Read More>> Flyer>>

TOWN CENTER SURVEY City staff conducted a survey between February
and April 2006 to learn what activities and amenities
will help bring people to Town Center more frequently
and to understand how others view the downtown and how
the City can make it more attractive.

The document will govern all land uses within the Harbor and will establish new regulations for all future development in the Harbor, including the Harbor Revitalization Plan. Prior to implementation, the Plan must be certified by the California Coastal Commission. It is expected that the Coastal Commission will certify the amendment sometime in 2007.
A copy of the document can be downloaded from the link to the County’s website below. The document is also available for review at local libraries, City Hall, and the County’s offices in Santa Ana and the Harbor.
